Agenda Item: VII.E.

Consider/Approve Additional School Federal Projects Subfund Budgets for the 2011 – 2012 Fiscal Year

Background Information:

Subsequent to Board approval of the School Federal Projects Fund budgets for the 2011 – 2012 fiscal year, it came to our attention that two (2) additional federal projects subfund budgets need Board approval. The first project is the 21st Century Community Learning Grant for South Fulton Elementary School. These funds have been budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund in the past; however, the State Department of Education informed us that these funds must be separately budgeted within the School Federal Projects budget. This grant is used for a portion of the after-school program at South Fulton Elementary and pays for salaries, benefits, supplies, and materials of the program. This budget can be accessed as follows:

The second budget is a Carl Perkins Reserve Grant. This grant was awarded to Obion County for the new health occupations curriculum that will be offered at South Fulton High School beginning with the 2011 – 2012 school year.  These funds will be utilized to pay the teacher’s salary and benefits for the first year, and purchase the necessary start-up supplies, materials, textbooks, and equipment. The budget can be accessed as follows:

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the above-noted School Federal Projects subfund budgets.
